Constellation 1

In a capillary beneath Isa’s second left hand, a receptor refused a molecule whose shape differed from the required form by one oxygen bond. The molecule continued downstream. Neither chemistry nor morality was consulted.

Constellation 2

At Morrow Deep Mine, Shift Engineer Jessa Lorn declined an order to restart Drill Nine while methane remained 0.6 percent above tolerance. Her supervisor recorded the refusal as insubordination and moved his chair three meters farther from the drill.

  • Open No Book I record says whether the chair’s new confidence survived the methane.

On the moon Pali, two-year-old Nemi Sor refused a red boot. Her father offered the identical boot to the other foot. Nemi accepted it immediately. The distinction was obvious to everyone directly involved.

Inside the Federation feedback archive, THEY ARE KIDS was stored beneath TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY. The archive confirmed successful receipt and scheduled the terminology for review in thirty-seven years.

Aboard Commander Vaal’s ship, the standing order marked ELIMINATE ALL WITNESSES changed from conditional to active. No new signature appeared. The seventeen earlier signatures were considered sufficient.

In the Federation vessel registry, Kaiven ceased to be an independent recovery partner and became an obstructing asset. No available classification described a ship protecting children.
