Deep beneath those visible things, a process with no name unfolded once.

It found the navigation system. It found the comm array. It found Kaiven’s old maintenance channels, where centuries of incompatible machines had learned to misunderstand one another without complaint.

It generated an empty return field, folded itself beneath the field, and presented the absence for inspection.

Then it made itself small and waited.
